The ‘SOOT’ lamp is a table light that consists of a base made from rough scrap wood, which has been refined and joined together to preserve the natural grain, then finished with vegetable oil. The lamp's ceramic body is shaped like a stone and finished by using "Ash Glaze," a traditional glaze made from ash left over after burning wood.

What's interesting is that we created our own recipe by transforming the original recipes to produce two versions of this glaze. The first uses pine ash, which has been traditionally used, and the second uses a synthetic ash (fake ash) made by mixing minerals that are easier to source due to the increasing difficulty in obtaining traditional materials. The lamp invites viewers to explore the subtle similarities and differences between the natural and the artificial, while also reflecting on our modern existence in a world where these contrasting qualities coexist.
